Carl
Faia studied composition with Edward Applebaum and Peter Racine Fricker
at the University of California in Santa Barbara. He received a
Fulbright grant for composition studies with Per Norgaard and Karl Aage
Rasmussen in Denmark and later studied privately with Tristan Murail in
Paris. His music, though mostly acoustically based, is inspired by
computer music research. The other side of his work since 1995 has been
centered around developing the activities of the emerging profession of
the "musical assistant" (a catch-all title covering a wide range of
activity including sound design, and the conception, realization,
teaching and performance of technology based music creation). He has
worked at IRCAM in Paris, the CIRM in Nice where he was also the studio
manager, as well as in a number of festivals and studios throughout
Europe. He is co-founder and director of synArt, a non-profit
organization for the research, creation and production of contemporary
technology based music.

Live-Electronic-Designer, Drummer and Composer
TWOROWSKI Sebastien studied drums for 15 years in several
conservatories and with the french composer Franck SMITH. At the same
time, he studied electro-acoustic composition with Michel PASCAL at the
conservatory of Nice (southern France) and got a price from the
S.A.C.E.M on his frist price of composition after which he followed a
cycle of improvement at CIRM in Nice for one year. TWOROWSKi Sebastien also was a trainee on the four levels Max-MSP courses at IRCAM and at ACANTHES in Metz with Jonanthan Harvey and Philippe Manoury. In 2007 he graduated from the CNSMD (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et Danse de Lyon) of Lyon where he studied applied research in electro-acoustic and computer music.
For three years consecutively, he received a scholarship from the S.A.C.E.M to develop his research into computer programming.
TWOROWSKI Sebastien is co-founder of synArt : a non-profit organization for research, creation and production of contemporary technology based music creation founded by Carl Faia and himself.

He undertakes a work on the sound structures using new musical technologies. His course is narrowly and basically related to that of Art Zoyd, of which he composes and directs the main part of the projects.
He composes in particular with Art Zoyd for the National Orchestra of Lille, for New the Musics unit and of course for the whole of the projects of Art Zoyd, the latest to date being ARMAGEDDON, Operetta for robots and musicians.
He realizes under his name musics for theatre, ballets (Karole Armitage…), exhibitions (Picasso/Gilded Maar…) or event-driven (Group F…).
Composer and Artistic Director
pic : A. T. SchaeferStudied composition with Luigi Nono in Venice and electronic music with Alvise Vidolin at the Venice conservatory. In 1984 he received a grant from the Heinrich-Strobel-Stiftung of the German Südwestfunk to work at the Freiburg Experimentalstudio. As Nono’s assistant he oversaw many productions and performances, including the premiere of Prometeo at the Venice Biennale in 1984 and its performance at La Scala in Milan in 1985. His own compositions focus on the theater. Thus, Andreas Breitscheid has written theatrical music for directors including Claus Peymann, Jürgen Flimm, the directing duo Karge/Langhoff, Axel Manthey, Christoph Nel, and Martin Kusej. His in-depth knowledge of room acoustics and electronic sound alteration and processing has made him a sought-after specialist in the field. As a sound director, he has overseen premieres and productions at the Frankfurt Opera, the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Wiener Staatsoper, the Opéra Bastille in Paris, the Semperoper in Dresden, the Salzburg Festival, and many other European opera houses and festivals. He has worked in the same capacity on numerous concerts and productions with the SWF, SDR, WDR, RAI, and ORF and has taken part in various recordings for Sony, Teldec, and others. Since 1992 Andreas Breitscheid has worked with the management of the Staatsoper Stuttgart as an artistic collaborator, and from 2002 until 2006 he was the artistic director of the Forum Neues Musiktheater of the Staatsoper Stuttgart, where his piece Im Spiegel wohnen (Living in the mirror) was the opening project in 2003.
TAO Yu
Composer

born 1981 in Beijing, began to take piano lessons at the age of four and studied composition at the age of fourteen. She worked on the composition and electronic music at the Conservatory of Music of China, at the Conservatory of Music in Geneva, Paris VIII. Her teachers include remarkable Shi WAN-CHUN, Wang Ning, Yao Heng-heng-lu, Nicolas Bolens, Eric Gaudibert, Rainer Boesch and Horacio Vaggione. In 1999, she received a degree in composition and theory composition of the Conservatory of Music in China. She received the Diploma and Diploma Composition of Music Electro-acoustique Conservatory of Music in Geneva with the distinction, in 2005. She participated in the composition and retrieving information musical at the institute IRCAM in June 2006.
The "première" of her work "Sentiment Qin", in September 2002 in Beijing was a great success. Also, it took a committee of the whole Phoenix Basel for the composition "Da Hua" in December 2002, which was introduced in China, Japan, Germany and Switzerland. Now, the music of Yu Tao won considerable public support. In February 2005, she was invited by Fabrica to work in Italy, and introduced her' concert portrait Tao Yu' at the institute Guggenheim Italy. In May 2005, she presented her portrait concert 'Sept peintures Chinoises - Poeme muet, Peinture sonnante' in Geneva, Switzerland.
She received commissions of the entire Phoenix, the player of the pipa Han Yinying, theorbo player - Markus Hochuli, director of film Filippo Filliger, all Ilôrkestra, all Milles-cordes, and the museum Geneva Rath. Her music has been performed at the festival of international contemporary music festival in Krakow, the film festival Téléphone-Aviv, the new American arts festival in Ohio, weekly contemporary music of the Chine-Suisse at festival music Geneva, the festival of the International Alliance for Women in Music, the festival of the room listening electroacoustic International Women in Fullerton, the festival Archipelago, and MUSICACOUSTICA 2005. These concerts were executed in China, Japan, South Korea, Poland, Switzerland, Germany, Italy, France and the United States.
Among her honors are the second prize in the competition of art song in Beijing (2000, Rose), and the reward honorary Chinese competition Chamber Music TMSK in Shanghai (2003, Poetry Wind Fall) . Her scores were published by 'the creation of music' in China. She is a member of the SACEM (France), the NBA (The Musicians Association of Switzerland), SUISSA (Switzerland), SCI (USA) and the IAWM (USA).
Composer

Instrumental Composition Prize, electroacoustic and computer music with Philippe Manoury at CNSMD of Lyon, it's perfect training during workshops at the IRCAM (Paris) in computer music and the ATEM (T & M-Nanterre ) for opera and musical theater.
The composition was to him a land of openness and exchange, it lends itself to invitations and residencies, both in France (G.R.M., KITCHEN, GMEM, GRAME, ART ZOYD…) that the foreign (CCRMA-Stanford and CNMAT-Berkeley, USA; Array-Music-Toronto, Canada; Radio Suisse Romande, Danish Broadcasting; Phonos-Barcelone, Spain). He was winner of the Musical Patronage of the Societe Generale (1996) and the Villa Médicis Hors walls / AFAA (1997), has received orders and aids in the writing of the State Ministry of Culture, Radio France, GRM, DICREAM-CNC, GMEM, GRAME, Lyon National Orchestra… and collaborates with the labels Different Frémeaux & Partners, Naïve, Maguelone, and the editor Alphonse Leduc.
His reflection on the staging area and the sound is expressed in his collaborations with authors (Olivier Cohen, Helene Codjo), choreographers (Yumi Fujitani, Annabel Guérédrat, Pierre Deloche), directors (Urszula Mikos, Daniele Ors - Hagen, Sylvia Freitag, Valerie Jallais, Amy Jean, Carole Fierz), visual (Christian Chatel, Christl Lidl, Gérard Venturelli) for the realization of concerts and musical performances.
Similarly, his interest in film led him to compose film scores for Sigried Alnoy, Orso Miret, Christophe Blanc, Nicolas Conti, and the videographer Martine Rondet-Mignotte.
